West Indies won the 4th edition of the ICC World Twenty20 2012, beat host Sri Lanka by 36 runs in a low scoring final at Colombo. Maroln Samuels go Man of the Match award for his 56 balls 78 runs while Shane Watson got Man of the Tournament award. 

 

 

2012 T20 WC Final Result - West Indies are New Champions of T20, beat Sri Lanka by 36 runs

In a thrilling final West Indies beat host Sri Lanka, coming from behind  by a huge margin of 36 runs, to lift their first T20 World Cup, first since 1979 on Sunday, 7th October, 2012 at Colombo. WI made 137/6 in 20 overs and SRL all out on 101 runs in 18.4overs. 

West Indies got one of their slowest start of T20 after wining the toss and were 32-2 after 10 overs while Gayle was in the pavilion but Marlon Samuels played one of the greatest T20 innings under pressure with 78 runs off 56 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes targeted Lasith Malinga who gave 54 runs in 4 overs. They have scored 105 runs in last 10 overs after Ajantha Mendis took 4 wickets for 12 runs.

In reply Sri Lanka were at good position after loosing Dilshan early with 48/1 in 9 overs but Sammy and 6-2 and Sunil Naraine 9-3 reduced them to 69-7 in 15 overs, Kulasekara tried to fight as score 22 runs off Rampaul over but after that its all over and the Gangnam started.

Morlon Samuels got Man of the match for his 78 runs while Australia's Shane Watson got Man of the Match award for his 243 runs and 15 wickets.

India now in a must win game to stay alive in the tournament as they lost their last game to Australia by a big margin. Should Virender Sehwag in this game, will be known before the match  and they really need to score big as they have already lost their practice game after scoring 186. Yuvraj return is now have a question mark while they have to decide their bowling combination.

Australia v South Africa 2012 Twenty20 World Cup Live Score, Commentary, Teams

In a big Group 2 game in Super 8 round of 2012 ICC World Twenty20, Australia will take South Africa in the first day game of Sunday, 30th September, 2012 at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo and the timing will be 10:00 GMT, 14:30 local, 14:30 IST.

Australia won comfortably against India thanks to Shane Watson with contribution from both bat and ball. So far in the tournament their batting line has not been tested as both the openers are in good form and with a win they can book their seat in the semis.

South Africa playing according to their tag "chokers" as they were so much controlled gainst Pakistan before Gul demolished them. They are in a must win game and their top order Levi and Amla has to give good start while devilliers and Duminy need to finish well. Their fast bowlers Steyn and Morkel doing well they need to utilize their spinners well.
