In a high scoring thriller of first Twenty20 Sri Lanka beat India by 29 runs on Wednesday, 9th December, 2009 at Nagpur. Sri Lanka made a huge total of 215/5 runs in 20 overs and restricted India to 186/9 in 20 overs.
Sri Lanka got a good start due to poor fielding by Indians and made their highest T20 score thanks to captain Sangakkara's 78 runs off just 37 balls with 11 fours and 2 sixes. India also started well with Gambhir's 26 balls 55 runs and were 92-1 in 8 overs but middle over collapsed and they were struugling at 115-6.
